Fashion Magazine!

During these days I had the opportunity to photograph and browse through some fashion Germans magazines dating back to the '30s of the last century of the newspaper "Die Dame," "The Woman". Unfortunately, I can't speak the German language, so I could not read and understand lots of the articles, but with a good dictionary I will try to translate some things for you. 

Finding informations about this weekly magazine has been a serious challenge, but I've been good at find out!

In questi giorni mi è stata data la possibilità di fotografare e sfogliare alcuni giornali di moda tedeschi risalenti agli anni '30 del secolo scorso della testata giornalistica "Die Dame", "La Donna". Purtroppo non conoscendo la lingua tedesca non ho potuto leggere e comprendere gli articoli, però grazie all'aiuto di un buon dizionario cercherò di tradurre alcune cose per voi.

Reperire informazioni su questo settimanale è stata un'ardua impresa, ma sono comunque riuscita a scoprire qualcosa!

"Ricami e Passamanerie" - "Embroidery and Trimmings"

What we can see turning the pages is the meticulous attentions to the layout, it was considered the most sophisticated magazine for the emancipated German women. The issues are about lifestyle, new trends, the glamorous world of fashion, accessories, make-up and hairstyles.

Ciò che si può notare sfogliando le pagine è la minuziosa cura dell'impaginazione, infatti era considerata la più sofisticata rivista per le emancipate donne tedesche. Tratta di argomenti come il lifestyle, le nuove tendenze, il patinato mondo della moda, gli accessori, senza tralasciare il trucco e le acconciature.

Originally the magazine was published by Ullstein, founded by Leopold Ullstein in 1877 in Berlin, this was one of the largest publishing companies of Germany. In 1934 the company of the Jewish family Ullstein was expropriated by the Nazi armed forces and their business "Aryanized." In 1937 the company was renamed Deutscher Verlag. So consequent to that we can understand how the historical period may have influenced the style of the published articles.

Originariamente venne pubblicata dalla Ullstein, fondata da Leopold Ullstein nel 1877 a Berlino, fu una delle più grandi case editrici della Germania. Nel 1934 alla famiglia ebrea Ullstein venne espropriata l'impresa dalle forze armate naziste e il loro business "arianizzato". Nel 1937 la società è stata rinominata Deutscher Verlag. Quindi da ciò si può capire come il periodo storico possa aver influito sullo stile degli articoli pubblicati.

Mi sorge spontanea una domanda: esisteva la crema depilatoria e si depilavano già in quegli anni?

Il marchio Kaloderma è ancora oggi venduto nelle farmacie.

"Rogo Calze. Raggio di sole" - "Rogo Stocking. Sunrays"

Tamara de Lempicka, Polish painter, worked with the magazine in the '20s. She collaborated in the macking of some covers, including the famous self-portrait with hat driving her Bugatti. That became in those years the symbol of the modern woman.

Alla rivistà lavorò negli anni '20 Tamara de Lempicka, pittrice polacca. Collaborò col giornale realizzando alcune copertine, tra cui il famoso autoritratto con cappello alla guida della sua Bugatti. Questo divenne in quegli anni uno dei simboli della donna moderna.
